Carolyn Strauss, president or HBO Entertainment, announced yesterday that her premium cable channel has decided to renew the Peabody Award-winning drama The Wire for a fourth season. Strauss said of the decision, "The Wire just keeps getting better, so we’re delighted that David Simon and his team will be returning for another provocative season." It sure took HBO a long time to find out that the crime drama delights them. Because of the late date, it will be hard for Simon and his casting director to get the series stars to come back for a project that won't see the light of day until 2006. The fourth season of The Wire will take a look at the role of the educational system in an urban environment."
